Did anyone see the movie The Memory Keeper's Daughter on Saturday? The movie is based on the book by Kim Edwards. We were busy on Saturday night, but I really wanted to see it because I really enjoyed the book.
The book is an interesting story about Down syndrome, but I think it is just as much about having to have complete control in life--sometimes things you didn't expect (even things you always thought were bad) lead to wonderful places...
I have a signed copy of the book that I got at the National Down Syndrome Congress Conference last summer (I have another copy so the signed copy is brand new.) ReplyDeleteI didn't much like the novel myself--my annoyance grew as I realized we were never going to get the title character's view of things, only everyone else's. But I'll enter anyway, friends who felt otherwise might enjoy receiving a signed copy.

ReplyDeleteI want to give a comment on your site - it is so 'full' that each time I try to move from one page to the next - to leave a comment for instance, my pc gives me a "run out of memory" message. I don't have the newest hardware/software, nor the oldest. I suspect others might have a similar problem, but not be able to let you know.
I think the problem is due to the video on time-out classrooms. Perhaps you could arrange that the video does not begin everytime your site is opened.
A webmaster recommended that I open my site on computers in public places or with other programs to see how it responds. Hope you don't mind my saying so. I hope to visit your site often. Thanks, Barbara

i'd love a copy! i saw the movie but hadn't read the book. it was really interesting. and hit close to home as my younger brother has Downs syndrome. appalling that they did that. glad to see someone advocated back then. the movie didn't follow the book exactly according to my friend who had read the book. the end was way different. but still enjoyable.
