Rush Limbaugh Brought Tears to My Eyes Yesterday

Caution: Watch this video at your own risk. I heard it unprepared yesterday and it actually brought me to tears. I am only posting it because when I mentioned the incident to a couple people yesterday they didn't believe me...

My daughter has Down syndrome. I'm not a wimp. I stand up and handle lots, but the furnace blast of abject hatred in Rush Limbaugh's broadcast took my breath away.

On his radio program Limbaugh praised Rahm Emmanuel for calling liberal Democrats r*tards... and that was just the beginning...

Limbaugh yells the r-word over and over again, to ridicule liberals, to mock people with disabilities who deign to say "stop it" when something hurts them, and to deride the disability activists who met with the administration at the White House Wednesday about respect for people with cognitive disabilities.

Crass.

Cruel.

Limbaugh's tone leaves no doubt. He believes people with cognitive disabilities are nothing:

Beneath contempt... Completely valueless...

Emmanuel's incident was bad enough. Limbaugh's diatribe made Emmanuel look like an absolute saint.

Yesterday Limbaugh stated on his website that he was just quoting Rahm....

In admiration?

Or because he is 6?

Well Rush, as my mother would have said:

"If Rahm Emmanuel jumped off the Barge Canal Bridge would you jump in after him???"

Way to think for yourself AND take responsibility.

Sarah Palin said Emmanuel should be fired for his remark--a remark that took months to even hit the newspapers... She made statements about Rick Perry's blatherings in Texas yesterday as well...

She has herself a dilemma now. This guy is supposedly her buddy--and he hates her kid.

What's she gonna do? Not for nothing, but mom to mom? I'm hoping for a full-on mama bear smackdown.

If my family, my friends and loved ones have to swallow this bile, this better be a giant step toward respect.

Once again, Rush sinks to a new low. I am hardly a fan of Sarah Palin, but I do hope she does the right thing here and holds this despicable man's feet to the fire. What a hypocrite and disingenuous person she will show herself to be if she does not cry out against this right winged mad man's behavior. Obviously, people on both sides need to be educated about the need to eliminate the "r" word.

Oops don't know how I posted you twice...

Thanks Marj, I couldn't agree more.

Hugs Terri. That Rush is despicable and an abomination! To make this issue a political tool is demeaning and off base. The issue infiltrates our whole society not political parties. Geesh- the nerve he has to actually say this stuff.

Things like this always upset me. I know this upset you great deal, as well. I honestly do not understand how people can be so cruel. The reality is that there are many people out there who do things that are hurtful just to get a reaction. It is dispicable! I hope Rush gets slammed as well!

Thank you ladies! I usually self-protect better than I did on this one. He is crude... and he has listeners who were out there nodding along... Bleaahhh!

I can't listen to Rush at all, he makes me nauseous and furious. He is poisonous! I'm so sorry this hurt you so deeply.

It's all about politics and pandering to speak to your own base. I'm sorry to hear it hurt you Terri, but I have a young daughter with Down syndrome and I didn't even let Rush's comment onto my radar. I heard it but then immediately dismissed it because almost anything he could possibly say is too far beneath what I would consider to be worth my time. What do we expect from someone like him anyway? As for Rahm Emanuel's comment, absolutely in poor taste and very immature, but spoken in a closed room to associates, NOT sent out on the airwaves to millions of listeners! For Palin to cry foul against Emanuel and then actually support Limbaugh's rant just shows her for exactly what she is. She won't go against him because she, like so many other Republican "power players" are terrified of him. What a pathetic state we're in these days!

Thanks Terena, Rush is poisonous, you are exactly right.

Thank you for your comment. I find that every once in a while something just gets to me, but not most of the time. The level of influence that someone like Rush Limbaugh has worries me, but does keep my life chock-full of projects for changing the world!
